Environmental Services

SHN has provided environmental services for over 45+ years

SHN’s environmental services staff are engineers, geologists, and scientists whose successes depend on their flexibility, resourcefulness, and meticulous preparation, in addition to their technical expertise.  Project locations are often remote, requiring several hours of drive time for access; therefore, responding to dynamic field conditions requires staff to:

  • Be extremely thorough in planning for collecting samples and field data because “going back” may not be an option,
  • Rely on our team’s 45+ years of local experience working in remote locations and unique situations,
  • Pay close attention to safety and environmental hazards such as wildlife, vehicle traffic, poor road and weather conditions, and poisonous plants, and
  • Make well-reasoned and well-documented decisions, thus gaining the trust of clients and regulatory staff who may never actually see the project sites.

Our major clients include the energy and forest products industries; the State of California; local governments such as cities, counties, and special districts; tribal entities; construction companies; and larger consulting firms who subcontract to SHN for the reasons listed above.

  • Assessing and prescribing Best Management Practices for limiting stormwater discharge
