About SHN

SHN is an employee-owned small business offering professional services in Northern California and Southern Oregon.

SHN is a small business providing professional services in the disciplines of civil engineering, environmental and municipal planning, geosciences, environmental and biological services, surveying and “drone” work, and materials testing and special inspections. Serving Southern Oregon and Northern California, we live where we work, giving clients extra assurance that our projects are designed and constructed to last and work well. Our familiarity with local and regional conditions (environmental, economic, and cultural) and our relationships with resources agency staff bring value to our clients’ jobs.

SHN is 100% employee-owned, with approximately 30% of employees holding stock. Private ownership allows us to make long-term plans and investments in the company, without the pressure of creating short-term gains.

SHN began as Selvage and Heber in 1979 and quickly became Selvage, Heber & Nelson.  After acquisition of a geotechnical firm, it became known as SHN Engineers & Geologists.  Now, with the addition of numerous other services such as planning and environmental services, we have branded to simply, SHN.  Many of our original municipal and forest products clients are still with us today, and we are proud of their friendship and trust.

SHN offers almost 50 years of experience.

We look forward to putting that experience to work for our clients and employees.
